Modelling, data and artificial intelligence
Lines
Daniel David Otero Meza is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Universidad de Sucre and the director of INGEBIR. He holds a PhD in Energy Engineering from Universidad de la Costa, with a thesis on the energy recovery of municipal solid waste, and a degree in Agro-industrial Engineering from Universidad de Sucre. He completed his doctorate with the Bicentennial Doctoral Excellence Scholarship of Colombia's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
His research brings together techno-economic assessment, exergy analysis and life cycle assessment of waste-to-energy routes, biomass valorisation by pyrolysis and anaerobic digestion, and stochastic modelling, compositional data analysis and machine learning. He has published in Energy Conversion and Management, Clean Technologies, BioEnergy Research, Biomass and Urban Science.
From 2019 to 2021 he advised on the design and structuring of science, technology and innovation projects for Colombia's General Royalties System, and from 2021 to 2025 he was co-investigator and coordinator of a Universidad de Sucre project on biorefineries and waste-to-energy technologies. In 2024 he coordinated the university's Master of Engineering. He also develops software and web applications with artificial intelligence.
